Hernan Crespo has encouraged the jobless Jose Mourinho to sound out the possibility of working in Italy. Mourinho has been out of football since his acrimonious departure from Chelsea earlier in the month.
In an interview with Sky Italia, Crespo said, "Mourinho is a born character and it would be exciting to see him in Italy.
"The newspapers would always be full. He is never dull and has a great personality.
"What's more, he likes Italy and I reckon that he'd be happy to come here, although I don't know to which club.
"I like him a lot both as a person and a coach, and I think it's important that Italy gets the best coaches.
"After all, once Serie A was seen as the holy grail for tacticians and players alike, but this is not so true these days."
Crespo, of course, served under Mourinho while at Chelsea, and to this day remains connected with the Stamford Bridge club, being merely on loan at Inter.
But he has not committed to the prospect of reuniting with Mourinho at the San Siro.
The striker moved on to discuss the scudetto race in general, remarking that Inter are still the team to beat.
He said, "Roma may be a very good side, but we're the strongest single team in Serie A. Any one-on-one match, we should win."
Roma prove a great threat to Inter as they seek to regain the league title, but Crespo is confident that the nerazzurri will prevail when the sides face off this weekend.
"It's going to be difficult, and we'll need to approach the game correctly, but every player is itching to go," he said.
"It won't decide anything right now, but these points could prove vital in May. Having only lost one game this season - to Roma in the Supercoppa - we think it important to make amends."
Crespo scored 15 goals for Inter in Serie A last season, having previously served city rivals AC Milan.
